The rationale, project concept and evaluation of my FMP idea:

Rationale:
For this project I am going to make sure I improve on my previous work from this year by ensuring that I don’t do too much work for work that requires less of the amount of effort and detail I am putting into it. I am still going to make sure that the quality of what I produce could be considered a Distinction level piece of work because of how precise, unique and visually gripping I plan for my FMP to be. The main thing however that I feel I have taken from the other projects I have produced during my second year on the course is to let my ideas and work become a lot more personal and as a result become more unique and specific to me, whether it is looking at my personal interests like in my documentary about the influence of music on people or whether it’s attempting to visualize the way my mind works and the feeling of being detached that I have definitely felt personally, through my video installation which while cryptic I thought was also the right amount of thought provoking too which in general is what I now aim to do with my work, create things which are interesting and show my progression creatively.
Project Concept:
My idea is essentially about a man who is wondering the abandoned streets of a village/town in a very delirious state as he struggles to comprehend the places and sights that he sees in front of him. I plan to also superimpose shots of the grass, shots of the sky, shots of the road (either empty or busy) etc. on top of the shots of the man going around confused and conflicted while walking around the village/town, which will be filmed in Bingham, Keyworth or West Bridgford, looking at different places such as fields of grass or corn, village/town centre, shops/pubs/bars/clubs/restaurants and buses/bus stops with the shots of the man that are close-ups being distorted and altered to create the effect of spiraling out of control. I will achieve this visually through the use of the video effects Color Balance (RGB), Lumetri Color, Lens Distortion and Offset in order to create the aesthetic that I am envisioning in my mind. The sort of colour that I am thinking of using in my music video is either light green or yellow as I believe it will match the tone of the song, both sonically and lyrically, as well as matching the actual concept of my music video and complimenting it too all in an attempt to portray the emotions I feel about the music personally when I listen to it visualized as perfectly as I can make it represent the way it truly makes me feel.
Evaluation:
I am going to evaluate my work as an ongoing activity by ensuring that I don’t rush through any pieces of work and put the right amount of detail and effort into everything I do for this project as I want every part of my FMP to have a lot of thought behind it as well as not being too similar to other peoples’ work because although it might be practically impossible to make sure that every aspect of my music video is unique and has never been done before. I also like to pride myself on my work being as unique and as different as it can be so I feel like my personal judgement on whether it is creative and even peculiar in some cases is a good way of policing the quality of the work that I produce. Another way of ensuring that I am setting myself aims and objectives weekly is by completing the weekly reflections that are showing progress that I am making with my project and unit 13 as a whole, if I’m not completing the work that I am saying I want to get completed in the previous week’s weekly reflection so I can evaluate why I wasn’t able to get specific pieces of work done and when I plan to get them finished for, deciding how and when I am going to get them completed for while working on figuring out how I can avoid not getting work done that I’ve set myself to do.
