On Tuesday 17th September I edited all of my picture postcard which ended up being a total of 37 seconds and although it is not that long what is included in it, which I feel is quite a bit because of the editing that I have done to it, is really interesting and engaing both visually but also with the contrasting audio used in different clips with how in some it is very peaceful and calm but then in others it feels disconcerting and a bit uncomfortable, not to the point where it is unbearable to watch though but to a point where it makes you focus on the message it is trying to get across. At the beginning of the edit I added a legacy title with the title of picture postcard "Inflame" to the establishing shot of him walking in front of the wall that has the view of Nottingham behind it which fades out when he reaches the "e" and walks underneath it. I also added pitched down footsteps in sync with him walking in front of the wall along with ambience of medium traffic in the background. Then I added a lighter sound effect and pitched it down to the bit where he lights the cigarette. It then cuts to the stock footage of power plants going across the screen to the left twice and a fairly unsteady shot of the sun with a sort of low buzzing sound in the backgrond to make it feel quite unsettling and anxiety inducing. The shot after that is a shot of him smoking and breathing it out of his mouth with ambience of medium traffic playing, which is follwed by stock foootage of a very severe forest fire with the buzzing noise playing in the background again as it was not used during the shot of him smoking the cigarette. Suddenly, for the last shot it cuts to him stubbing out the cigarette and walking away and off the screen. The audio I used for the final shot was some pitched down footsteps in sync with his footsteps but no ambience at all. The editing process was definitley an important part of this project for me and I am glad with how my edit turned out and how well it matches the way I imagined it would look.
