During industry week, the two lectures that I found enjoyable were the lectures by Junior Assistant Producer Jake Meskell and Clare Tavernor from Phono Films who is passionate about making documentaries and bringing awareness to issues that she feels are important and in need of the attention. I found Jake's lecture interesting and helpful as he went into detail on what his job entails and how he personally handles his job and the responsibilities that come with it. He also showed us footage of work he has produced as a part of his job as well as asking us to go onto the Sky Sports Boxing Instagram page to give our opinion on the posts he has posted and is responsible for creating daily at the very least. I thought that his talk was generally very informative and good for helping our understanding of the industry as students as our perspective on how it truly works may have been shifted by the talk he gave because he was completely truthful with what he said, the main message behind it being that you must work as hard as you possibly can in the industry and make sure that you don't get taken advantage of and manipulated in the industry as people will try to so the important thing is not letting it happen to yourself.

Conveniently, standing up for yourself and for what you believe in is an essential part of Clare's job since her projects are based on what she feels the public should know more about which is also a benefit of her being able to work independently, at least during production but even so she is allowed a reasonable amount of freedom in both pre-production and post-production. This is quite possibly due to her reputation of being reliable and consistent with the quality of her work allowing her to gain the trust of broadcasters such as the BBC. Also, although she may not have explicitly stated it herself I thought that with her living in Cornwall, as well as being based in Cornwall with her company Phono Films it shows that location isn't a deciding factor on how successful you can be in the industry as Cornwall is quite far away from London, Manchester, Leeds etc. yet Clare has had a good amount of success nevertheless. The piece of media that I like best that Clare has made is the Run The Jewels interactive gig because the concept of it is unique and very different to anything that exists currently which is why it's a shame that BBC owns the concept and Clare can't explore it any further because of the legal consequences that would ensue but with what I saw from the one interactive gig piece that I saw, it definitely inspired me to create something new, interesting and possibly even groundbreaking.
