On Tuesday 25th November in Faye's lesson in the morning we started the Secret Cinema part of Unit 9 and to begin the lesson we recapped audience theory/types and the meaning of words including demographic, geodemographic, psychographic, socio economic and social grades, mainstream, alternative, niche, oppositional, negotiated, preferred as well as concepts included in Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory such as personal identity, personal relationships, diversion, surveillance. After that we answered the questions 'What is a cult film?', 'What is a secret cinema?', 'What is an interactive screening?' and "What film/environment ideas do you have?'. After that we watched part of the documentary The Rocky Horror Treatment. We then got into groups of 4/5 people (my group was me, Ella, Matt and Harry) and came up with pitches for our choice of cult film and we started on our pitch PowerPoint in which the questions 'What film have we chosen and why?', 'When and where are we going to show it?', 'How will our screening be interactive and engaging?', 'Is there cost involved was it achievable?', 'What research have we conducted to back up our ideas?', 'What roles in the team will people be having?' and 'What is our marketing plan?'. At the end of the lesson I completed a weekly reflection for Faye's lesson specifically for our first lesson on Secret Cinema. In the afternoon in Rob's lesson we worked on whatever we needed to be doing so I emailed back and forth with the UCAS advisor Amy Baulcombe about my personal statement and I was able to finish my final draft by the time it was break. After break I added the notes I have about audience types/theory to my Secret Cinema blog. On Thursday in Marissa's lesson I worked on my shot list for my video installation Disconnected and created about half and then it came to lunch and I worked with my group on our PowerPoint presentation and we changed the film to The Polar Express and altered the PowerPoint to make the slides we had already done applicable to our new film The Polar Express. In the afternoon on Thursday I finished my shot list and started my storyboard which I finished in the evening. I also completed my weekly reflection week 9 and week 10 (the one I am writing right now) on Friday too. Overall, I am happy with how productively I used the week and what I finished and made and the fact that I have nothing to complete that I started this week I think shows how much I wanted to ensure that I got everything I needed to get done this week done and although I still have the audience profiling work from Marissa's lesson last week and the pre-production I still need to do for my video installation (health and safety issues, call sheet, consent forms and my visual plans for my video installation) I feel that what I got done this week was done to a standard I'm proud of and how much I did was a good amount of work that I am happy with and it makes me feel more confident that I will be able to get all of my work done for the deadlines that have been set for them.
