On Tuesday 17th December it was the day of the Interactive Screening for our chosen film The Polar Express. The day started with everyone going to E170 and arranging the chairs to replicate the seating arrangements of a train which I helped with, mostly the moving of the chairs and tables too but not the decision of where to put them. After I helped with setting up the seating for the Interactive Screening I went to the toilets next to the classroom that is nearest the slight negative slope that connects the area which E170 is in to where the toilets are and to the rest of E floor as well when you go through the doors either at the left or right at the end of the slope. Then, Matt and I got changed into our costumes in the male toilets whereas Rory, Aiden and Reegan got changed into their costumes in the classroom next to the toilets and then we all returned to the classroom to continue helping transform the classroom however we could but I went to two classrooms dressed as Santa Claus with Bela dressed as an elf once she got changed into her costume which she did in the female toilets near the slope.
While going around the classrooms promoting the screening I made sure to mention what it was I was promoting (the Interactive Screening), where it was happening (E170), what time it was happening (1:00pm), what refreshments were available and what film was being shown. While we were doing this everybody else was in in E170 still arranging the room to be laid out as best it can be, putting cotton balls on the tables to resemble snowballs and hanging up snowflakes made by Kinga from the ceiling which were very well done and detailed I thought. Bela and Riane also put signs up around E floor to direct people to the room we were holding our Interactive Screening in if they were unsure of where to go. The rest of the morning I rehearsed the two routines we had to do during the film as the Interactive Actors which were dancing into the room and then clapping and dancing in time with the beat of the music during the scene of the film where they serve the children hot chocolate on the train while dancing too and then leave after standing at the front for a bit. The other piece of interaction we rehearsed was when we walk in during the scene when Santa Claus makes his big entrance and the bell drops in front of Hero Boy during which I go to the front of the room and wish everyone at the screening Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays followed by leaving the room once I have done so.
Another thing which happened during the morning was that I accidentally managed to rip my Santa Claus trousers and part of my Santa Claus jacket too but Tenzin kindly sewed the whole in the trousers up as it was very noticeable but the hole in the jacket was where the armpit is so it wasn't very noticeable so we decided to leave it how it was. I also managed to misplace my original white shirt as well somehow but the other white shirt I had with me worked just as well so once I came back from lunch which I took the outfit off for I wore it underneath my Santa Claus jacket and got changed into the rest of my costume and waited for the Interactive Screening to begin. It officially started at 1:00pm as people started coming in, being given golden tickets at the door before they sat down. Then, as well as being greeted at the door I welcomed them everyone at the front of the classroom as Santa Claus while telling them where they could find the refreshments and any refreshments tailored to specific allergies and then I said I hope they enjoy the film and then I left the room and the film started.
The two pieces of interaction that we planned went well although during the hot chocolate scene on the train I left the room after going to the front way too quickly but it wasn't noticeable to the audience that it wasn't planned that way so it wasn't a problem. An addition to the second piece of interaction was Sam doing a backflip and me going to the front of the room with Rory and Sam and exclaiming "Happy Families!" while putting my arms around them both as well as wishing them a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays as planned. After giving the audience a survey to complete about the Interactive Screening and thanking them for coming they left and the screening was over. On Thursday, in Marissa's lesson I worked on completing the theory weekly reflection for the Interactive Screening which I was able to finish by the end of the lesson. Overall, I am very pleased with the work I have done this week and although I feel like I could have done more during Marissa's lesson I did come in a bit later due to feeling unwell I was still able to complete a theory weekly reflection blog and the work I did in the Interactive Screening was a good amount so I'm happy with what I have accomplished and I'm proud of what's been done despite any sort of mishaps that could have prevented it from being done it was done nonetheless.
