Weekly Reflection- Week 16

On Tuesday 21st January in Faye's lesson in the morning we began by looking at what research we need to do for our documentary and the options available to us for what type of research. We need to do primary research, secondary research, qualitative research and quantitative research as part of the research required for the documentary unit. After that we made notes on the six modes of documentary, watched a ten minute video about the history of documentary and then came to a decision of what mode of documentary ours will be considered. Our documentary will be an expository documentary as it will be informing the viewers about Emo Rap and Grunge and what it means to the fans of the genre. Then, in the second part of the lesson we filled out the Student Representative sheet that had points being discussed include Quality of Teaching and Learning, Learning Resources, Learning Progress, Independent Learning Beyond the Classroom/Homework, Assessment, English and Maths, Work Related Learning and Work Experience, Support on programme, Tutorials, Preparing for Progression, EDI, British Values, Prevent and Safeguarding and Nottingham College Facilities. Once the meeting had finished, me and Riane returned to Rob's lesson after break at about 2:50pm everyone started working on PowerPoints about the six modes of documentary, making sure to include definitions for each mode of documentary, examples of each mode of documentary and why they are an example of the type of mode of documentary that we must complete for Rob's next lesson.


On Wednesday I made a blog post consisting of everything that we have done in the documentary so far, except for the pre-production which are all on separate blogs, that I will keep adding to with information and work that I think is appropriate for the blog specifically. In Marissa's lesson, on Thursday I received feedback on my Video Installation from Marissa and I got a distinction overall, as long as I made a blog post about audience profiling, mentioning five of the demographics from the sheet and relating them to my Video Installation specifically, which I did meaning I achieved the distinction I was hoping to get. I also spent the lesson creating and finishing a call sheet, a location release form and two talent release forms. I made a list of proposed questions and voiceover script on Monday too. Overall, I feel like what I have produced and completed during the week was of a good quality and I think the quantity of what I have been able to do this week is very good and I feel that I am on top of my work, especially more so with the documentary than I felt I was before as now I have a clearer idea of the direction I want to go with it so I am pleased with standard of the work related to it and how it is helping it pan out to be as good as it possibly can be.
