Weekly Reflection- Week 3

sampattison2501

On Tuesday 24th September, because we don't have college on Mondays, I spent the whole afternoon completing the GCSE English diagnostic test that we all have to complete as a requirement of the Level 3 TV and Film course that we are doing. I spent Wednesday evening writing up my weekly reflection of week 2 onto my Wix blog in quite a lot of detail. Then, on Wednesday I spent my afternoon registering for University open days taking place in October and November. The university open days that I have applied for are the Teesside University open day on Saturday 12th October 2019 the Swansea University open day on Saturday 19th October 2019, the Bournemouth University open day on Saturday 26th October 2019 and the Liverpool John Moores University open day on Wednesday 6th November 2019. I was going to apply for the open day at Birmingham City University on Sunday 24th November 2019 but it is a bit too early to register for a place and get a ticket for it yet but when I am able to get one I will but however I do still need to sign up for UCAS. On Thursday, which due to the strikes happening was the first day we had to be in lesson during the week and the first thing we did in Marissa's lesson (9:00am-12:15pm) was watch each others' picture postcards as we presented them at the front of the classroom and then after that we started the video installation unit so before going off to break we copied down a spider diagram about what video installations are and what we will be learning about them and we also watched some video installations made by past students of the course that we are taking at Nottingham College just like they did. After break we went to the Nottingham Contemporary and visited the Still Undead exhibition about the Bauhaus's teachings and ideas that lived on in Britain via pop culture and art schools. We had to complete a sheet for gallery research in which we had to explain the concept/idea behind the exhibition, analyse two pieces from the exhibition and what inspired me and did anything I saw or heard inspire my video installation and if so how? We don't have college on Fridays so I didn't come in on Friday and did work at home on Thursday instead which was the blog post for the introduction to video installation lesson that we had as well as the gallery research we did during the lesson too. Overall, I was happy with how this week as a whole went because the amount of work I was able to complete and the quality I was able to complete it to, I was very pleased with. So to conclude I'm happy about how I used my time off college productively and what I was able to do during the time we had off.
