On Thursday 7th November in the morning in Marissa's lesson we were researching video artist but because I have already done that to what I think is a detailed degree and I had already made notes about what my idea is for my video installation so I typed up my idea in the form of the notes I made and also as a proposal as well. The areas that it touches on includes what type of experimental video it is, what people are in the video installation, what objects are in the video installation, what the concept of the video installation is, what the content of the video installation is (what effects and transitions I might use), what visual codes I will use (colours, lighting, props, images), what the soundtrack to my video installation will be and what demographic my video installation will appeal be.
That is all we did this week at college because we weren't in Tuesday but over the half-term I went to open days at both Bournemouth University (Saturday 26th October) and Liverpool John Moores University (Wednesday 6th November) where I looked at Media Production courses at both Universities. I found Bournemouth University to be a lot more welcoming as it felt like the University I want to be studying at and earning my deegree at for the next three years after college. I preferred the course to the Media Production course at Liverpool John Moores University as well because the units included in the course at Bournemouth University are a lot more suited to what type of career I'm interested in which is related to Radio and Podcasting and the course at Liverpool John Moores University seemed to be based more around things that don't interest me as much as the forms of media that I have mentioned above do. The University also felt too much like an office building too and didn't feel like how a University should feel to me although I wouldn't reject studying there if I had no other offers available to me whereas Bournemouth University is definitely the University that felt the best for me so I am without a doubt interested in it the most out of all of the Universities I have visited.
During the half-term break I also completed the handout on Marxism that I started before the half-term for my group's presentation on Marxism and I also made three drafts of my personal statement and have gotten it to a good quality that I feel is where it should be at this stage so I am pleased with the fact that I have been able to produce as many drafts as I have and that I have gotten my personal statement to the standard that it is at now. Overall, I am happy with what I have produced during this week and during the half-term break as well as what I have been able to complete and realize because it shows I have been using my time inside and outside of college wisely and I have been ensuring that I am in control of my education and that it is as beneficial to me as much as it possibly can be.
