On Tuesday 18th November we watched Vice in the morning at the Corner House cinema (Cineworld). Vice is a film about Dick Cheney's time in the White House and how he uses his power once George W Bush wins the 2000 presidential election as his running mate to change the country for better or for worse. Then in Faye's lesson in the afternoon, which would have been in the morning but she took Rob's lesson in the afternoon due to the Dystopian Futures essay deadline being on Thursday at 11:59pm so she decided it would be best to take the afternoon to help people who were struggling to complete the essay. However, I had already written the first draft of my essay so what I spent the lesson doing was making the edits Faye suggested I should make to make it shorter and to improve the essay. These improvements included changing Aristotle's theory (Beginning, Middle and End) to Todorov's Equilibrium theory (Equilibrium, Disequilibrium, New Equilibrium) and shortening a part of the essay where I essentially repeat myself talking about how the robots in I, Robot (2004) are able to develop their understanding of the 'Three Laws' and the other thing I had to change coincidentally was adding apostrophes to every time I mentioned the 'Three Laws' to emphasise that it is a part of the film and it is very important to the film. Once I had Harvard referenced all the sources that I used and put all of the images I used as appendices on their own pages and I put to refer to the appropriate appendix after each paragraph I wrote and I then submitted my essay via Turnitin and uploaded screenshots of both drafts of my essay onto my Wix.
On Thursday in Marissa's lesson in the morning we spent the first part of the lesson looking at audience profiling and how we are going to do that for this project and Marissa gave us a sheet from which we have to pick 5 examples of a type of audience and we have to break it down and relate it to what we're making for our video installations. After break Rudy came into to introduce us to Adobe After Effects 2019 and showed us how to alter images/video with effects such as RGB Curves, RGB Levels, Midtones, Tritones, Lumetri Colour and Masking. I created an edit of a rainforest coated in orange and purple which was inspired by the album cover of Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins. I have the audience profiling still left to do but except for that I have nothing that I need to complete. Overall, I am pleased with what I was able to produce and create this week and I feel that I used the week wisely to be creative and productive
